Fire & Rescue
Tech Solutions.
A fire station network that stays online when the high street's gone dark, an operations room with displays that don't flicker mid-incident, and connectivity that has a backup behind the backup. CoreComms designs and installs mission-critical communications, networking and AV for fire and rescue services across the North West and West Yorkshire. Built around resilience, not convenience.
Mission-Critical Comms, Networking & AV.
Fire and rescue tech is judged differently from corporate IT. Uptime isn't measured in availability percentages, it's measured in whether the appliance got the page, whether the operations room saw the incident on screen, whether the fire investigator's bodyworn camera footage uploaded back to base.
What "mission-critical" means in practice on the installs we deliver:
We're a small team focused on doing the install properly. Our work in this sector is selective, evidence-led, and built on getting the basics right first.
Resilient Communications.
Single points of failure are unacceptable in a fire and rescue setting. We design connectivity with at least two independent paths and document the failover behaviour so the on-shift team know what to expect.
Failover Internet (Starlink + 4G)
Primary fixed-line (typically a fibre leased line), Starlink Business as a secondary path on a fully separate physical route, and 4G/5G as a tertiary fallback. Configured with automatic failover on a dual-WAN router so a primary outage results in seamless continuation rather than a service ticket. The point isn't redundancy for redundancy's sake, an incident response can't pause while someone reboots a router.Starlink Business installationBackup Power
A network is only as resilient as its power supply. We design installs with proper UPS coverage on critical kit (firewalls, switches, telephony, operations-room AV), capacity calculated for the realistic outage duration rather than a marketing-spec runtime, and where the building has a generator we integrate the UPS so transition is clean.Hardened Hardware
Industrial-grade access points where appliance bays need WiFi coverage. Rack-mount switches with dual power supplies. Firewalls with high availability pairs where the budget supports it. Temperature-rated kit where the environment demands it. The cheapest WiFi access point that ships next-day-delivery is not the right answer for a fire station.Planning a project for your sector? Let's scope it.
Networking for Fire Stations.
The typical fire station network has more variety than people expect: appliance bay coverage for crew radios and bodyworn camera offload, station office IT, training room AV, accommodation block WiFi, CCTV across multiple zones, telephony with paging integration, and increasingly, telematics from the vehicle fleet.
We design station networks with proper VLAN segregation between operational, administrative, training, and accommodation traffic; QoS for voice and command-and-control flows; and resilient links between the station and the regional command network where applicable. Cabling typically Cat 6a, fibre between buildings on multi-block stations, full Fluke certification at handover.
Operations Room AV & Displays.
Operations rooms. Whether on a fire station or in a regional control centre, need AV that works the way operators expect, every time. Display walls, multi-source switching, audio that integrates with the fire control system, and control panels that let an operator change layout in a single tap.
We install:
CCTV for Fire Service Premises.
Fire station CCTV covers appliance bays (asset protection, training review, post-incident analysis), external entrances, vehicle yards, accommodation block external areas, and where operationally needed, training facilities. Designed against your service's information governance policy with clear retention, access controls and SAR-handling procedures.
For training facilities specifically (live fire training, breathing apparatus chambers), we work with the training officer to spec cameras that survive the environment and capture the angles training reviews need.
See our data cable installation page for the structured cabling that the CCTV system depends on.

Cyber & Compliance.
Public sector connectivity often touches the Public Services Network (PSN), regional emergency services network, or the Home Office Emergency Services Network depending on the service. We can design and install networks that meet PSN-Compliant Network requirements and work with your service's information assurance lead through the formal accreditation process.
For non-PSN environments. Administrative networks, training, accommodation, we design to Cyber Essentials baseline with stronger controls where the threat profile demands it. Documentation, evidence, and audit trails are part of the install rather than an afterthought.
We don't claim independent PSN-Compliant Network status today. We design and install to the standards, and work alongside your accreditor to evidence compliance.
Why CoreComms Works in Fire & Rescue.
Three things mark out the installers we'd actually want to do this work:
Engineered for the toughest day.
Networks designed to perform on day one and stay that way for years. Specified properly, measured, and verified at every stage.Document properly.
The runbook, the as-built diagrams, the contact list, the failover behaviour, all of it goes to the on-shift team in a form they can use at 03:00 in poor light.Operations stay live.
Cutovers planned around shift changes, work scheduled around incidents, and clear escalation paths in place throughout every install. We're a team with fifty-plus years of combined experience and we'd rather do less work to a higher standard than fill the calendar with mismatched jobs.
