Services/Healthcare IT & Network Infrastructure
Healthcare IT &
Network Infrastructure.
A clinical network that doesn't get in the way of patient care, deployed quietly enough that you don't lose surgery sessions to the install, and aligned to the standards your DSPT submission has to evidence. CoreComms designs and installs healthcare IT and network infrastructure for GP surgeries, dental practices and care homes across the North West and West Yorkshire. Practical, compliant, and built around how clinical teams actually work.
NHS-Ready IT & Networking for Healthcare.
Healthcare IT has three things office IT doesn't: tight working windows, demanding compliance standards, and the need for uptime that protects patient care. We design installs around all three, with quiet deployment, DSPT-aligned networks, and resilient infrastructure that keeps clinical sessions running.
The team has fifty-plus years of combined experience and we work with a number of GP surgeries, dental practices and care homes across the region. Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing parts of our work, because clinical environments deserve installers who truly understand them.
What that looks like in practice:
Quiet deployment
Work scheduled around clinical hours, with sign-off from your practice manager.DSPT-aligned design
Networks that hold up against the assertions in the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.Resilient configuration
Single failures shouldn't take down a clinical session.Clinical software-aware
Installs that play nicely with EMIS, SystmOne, Vision, Carestream, R4, SOEL, NHSmail and the rest.Hospital & NHS Trust IT.
Acute trusts, specialist hospitals and multi-site NHS estates lean on infrastructure that has to disappear into the background: clinicians shouldn't be thinking about the network, they should be thinking about patients. We deliver cabling, WiFi and core network projects at trust scale, phased around live wards and theatres, documented to a standard that satisfies estates, digital and IG. Proud partners of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Cygnet Healthcare, among others.
Trust-Wide Infrastructure
Structured copper and fibre, resilient core switching and dedicated comms rooms across wards, theatres, imaging suites and admin blocks. Designed with diverse routing, UPS-backed cabinets and full as-built documentation handed back to estates and digital teams, because in an acute setting a network outage is a clinical incident, not an IT ticket.Hospital-Scale Clinical WiFi
Predictive design and on-site validation for hospital environments: wards, MRI corridors, outpatient clinics, staff bases. Fast roaming for clinicians on PDAs and mobile carts, segregated SSIDs for clinical, corporate, medical-device and patient/visitor traffic, and predictable performance under heavy concurrent load. Heatmaps delivered post-install.Trust Compliance & Segmentation
DSPT, Cyber Essentials Plus, NHS Data Security Standards and trust-specific information governance baked in from day one. Hardened configurations, network segmentation between clinical systems, medical devices, corporate IT and guest, plus audit-ready evidence packs co-designed with trust digital and IG teams.Got a project in mind? Let's scope it together.
GP Surgery IT.
A modern UK GP practice runs on a mix of clinical software, NHSmail, networked imaging, IP phones, telephony queueing, video consultations and patient-facing self-service kiosks. The network underneath has to be reliable, compliant and easy for the practice manager to support.
EMIS & SystmOne Networks
EMIS Web and SystmOne are the two dominant clinical systems in UK general practice. Both are bandwidth-modest individually but highly sensitive to latency and packet loss: clinicians need sessions that respond instantly. We design networks with QoS for clinical traffic, redundant paths where the budget supports it, and proper segregation between clinical, admin, guest and IoT traffic.Clinical WiFi
Tablets, mobile blood-pressure monitors, ECG machines, point-of-care testing kit, clinician phones, all increasingly wireless. A clinical-grade WiFi network has stronger requirements than a typical office: −65dBm minimum coverage in clinical work areas, fast roaming so a clinician walking between consulting rooms doesn't drop, and full segregation from patient guest WiFi.GP Surgery CCTV
Reception areas, dispensing windows, waiting rooms, external entrances. CCTV in a GP setting needs careful consideration of patient privacy, recording retention, GDPR-compliant signage and access controls. We design installs with the practice manager and DPO so the system supports safety without overstepping.Dental Practice IT.
Dental practices have specific IT and infrastructure needs that differ from GP surgeries.
Practice Management Networks
Software of Excellence (SOE), R4, Carestream Dentrix, Lily Head and others. Each has slightly different network and integration requirements. We've installed for practices on most of them and know the foibles. What backs up properly, what hates a flaky link, what needs a static IP.Imaging Systems
Intra-oral scanners, panoramic radiography, cone-beam CT, all generate substantial files that need to move from chair to server to viewer reliably. We design backbone bandwidth, switch port assignments and storage paths so a 200MB scan from a chair doesn't queue behind email traffic.Dental WiFi
Mostly the same considerations as GP WiFi. Clinical coverage, segregation, secure guest access, with the addition of integration to dental imaging tablets and mobile point-of-sale terminals where the practice takes private payments.Care Home IT.
Care home IT covers a broader scope than GP or dental. Clinical records, resident WiFi, nurse call integration, family liaison portals, telehealth appliances, CCTV.
Resident WiFi
Residents and visiting families increasingly expect WiFi. The challenge is providing it as a comfort/quality-of-life feature without compromising the clinical and admin networks. We segregate properly, provide bandwidth fairness across rooms, and configure reasonable parental-control-style filtering on the resident network.Nurse Call Integration
Modern nurse call systems (Aid Call, Static Systems, Tunstall, Spectralink) increasingly integrate with the IP network. Paging to staff phones, escalation rules, integration with care planning software. We can install the network underneath and integrate with the nurse call vendor's platform.Care Home CCTV
Common areas only (corridors, entrances, communal spaces), never resident rooms or bathrooms. With careful consideration of CQC guidance, GDPR, and signage. Recordings retained per the home's policy and stored on local NVR rather than cloud unless specifically required.Want a fixed-price quote? We'll come and survey first.
DSPT Compliance & Cyber Essentials.
Two specific frameworks that come up regularly in healthcare IT conversations.
We don't certify clients ourselves, that's an IASME-accredited body's job. But we install and document networks that pass certification first time.
DSPT (Data Security and Protection Toolkit)
All providers of NHS-funded health and care services must complete an annual DSPT submission. The technical control assertions in the DSPT cover patch management, antivirus, network segmentation, access control, backup and recovery, encryption, and asset management. We design networks that hold up against these assertions, and supply the evidence (configuration documentation, test results, asset registers) you'll need at audit.Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus
Increasingly required in NHS supply contracts and useful as a baseline cybersecurity certification. We work to its five technical controls (firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection, patch management) and can support clients through the CE / CE+ certification process.Resilient Networking.
For sites where downtime translates directly into displaced patients or care-quality risk, we design redundancy in:
How much redundancy makes sense depends on the site. A single-handed practice might be fine on a single WAN with a 4G failover. A 12-clinician group practice with 50 patients on the schedule each session needs more.
Dual WAN links
Primary fibre or leased line plus Starlink as a secondary path; automatic failover.Stacked or redundant switches
Single switch failure doesn't take down clinical sessions.Spare AP capacity
Clinical WiFi designed with overlap so a failed AP doesn't create a dead zone.Backup and recovery
Local snapshots plus offsite for clinical software databases.Documented failover and recovery procedures
Your practice or care manager knows what to do when.Quiet Out-of-Hours Deployment.
Clinical environments need careful planning. We work around clinical sessions, protect patient experience and leave the site spotless at the end of every visit.
Practices and care homes across the North West trust us to deliver tidy, methodical installs that put patient care first to start to finish.
