IT Support & AV for
Schools & Universities.

A school where the WiFi reaches every classroom, the interactive whiteboards work the way teachers expect, and the install happens during half-term so September starts on time. CoreComms designs and installs network infrastructure, classroom AV and CCTV for primary schools, secondary schools, colleges and universities across the North West and West Yorkshire. Built for education environments and the people who run them.

WHAT WE DELIVER

Education-Ready Tech & Network Solutions.

Education IT runs on calendars more than budgets. The window for installation is the school holiday; the window for AV upgrades is summer; the campus WiFi has to handle a sudden 600-device load on the first morning of term. Specialist education installers plan around these milestones from day one, so the network is ready when staff and students walk back in.

What that looks like in practice:

Holiday installs scheduled months in advance: Easter, half-term, summer
Predictive WiFi survey before quoting, on-site verification before invoicing
Interactive panels and projectors specified to the curriculum, not the AV catalogue
CCTV designed against safeguarding policy, not just camera count
Engineers briefed on safeguarding, DBS expectations, and lone-worker policies before stepping on site

The team has fifty-plus years of combined experience and has worked across primary, secondary, FE and HE estates in Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and the wider region.

SCHOOLS

Primary & Secondary Schools.

Primary and secondary schools share a lot of practical needs but differ on scale and complexity. Both need:

Classroom AV, interactive panels or projectors, depending on classroom layout and budget
Reliable WiFi that handles BYOD on top of school-managed devices
Safeguarding-aware CCTV at entrances, corridors and external boundary
Identity integration with the school's MIS (SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom)
Phone systems that handle the morning rush of parent calls

Where they differ: secondary estates tend to be larger, more complex (often multi-building), and need more structured AV across specialist rooms (science labs, music, drama, technology). Primary estates are smaller and tighter on budget, the install methodology is the same; the scale is different.

We typically schedule rollouts over school holidays, work to a tight punch list, and leave the building cleaner than we found it. We've turned around 18-classroom rollouts in single fortnights when the calendar required it.

Planning a project for your sector? Let's scope it.

FE

Colleges & Further Education.

FE colleges sit between schools and universities operationally. Larger than schools, often spread across multiple campuses or buildings, with more sophisticated curriculum AV needs (engineering workshops, hair and beauty salons, hospitality kitchens, performing arts spaces). And with adult learners who bring their own devices in greater numbers.

We design FE installs around:

Campus-wide WiFi that handles BYOD-heavy use without dropping students mid-class
Specialist AV for vocational subjects. Workshop displays, kitchen demonstration rigs, salon mirrors with embedded screens
Lecture theatre AV with capture and streaming for hybrid delivery
CCTV across multi-building campuses with central monitoring
Networks that segregate student, staff, guest and IoT traffic properly

Most FE work happens in summer holidays, long enough for substantial rollouts but tight enough that scheduling matters.

HE

Universities & Higher Education.

Universities are larger again, with their own IT functions, complex compliance environments, and demanding AV requirements (lecture capture, hybrid delivery, research-grade AV). We work with HE institutions on specific projects rather than full IT outsource. Typically large AV rollouts, lecture theatre upgrades, structured cabling for new builds, or campus WiFi extensions.

What we bring:

Survey-led design that integrates with existing campus standards
Co-ordination with university IT, AV and estates teams during install
Eduroam awareness, campus WiFi designed to integrate cleanly with the university's existing eduroam configuration where applicable
Cabling and AV that meets HE acceptance standards (proper certification, documentation, handover)
Project management that respects an HE estates programme, including academic-year constraints

We don't pretend to replace a university's in-house IT team. We supplement it on the projects where specialist installer capacity is needed.

CLASSROOM AV

Classroom AV & Interactive Whiteboards.

The largest part of our education AV work, interactive whiteboards and touchscreen displays in classrooms and training rooms across the region.

Promethean / SMART

Promethean ActivPanel and SMART Board MX series remain the dominant choices in UK schools. Promethean is particularly entrenched in primary and early secondary; SMART has strong presence in older secondary estates and in HE. We supply, install, integrate and train on both.Whiteboard installation

Lecture Capture

Recording lectures for later review, hybrid attendance, quality assurance and accessibility is a baseline expectation in HE and increasingly in FE. We install camera, microphone and content-share kit that integrates with Panopto, Echo360, Microsoft Stream or Kaltura. Whichever platform your institution uses. Audio quality matters more than camera spec for capture; we design accordingly.

Wireless Presentation

Click-share-style hardware (Barco ClickShare, Mersive Solstice, ScreenBeam) is increasingly default in training rooms and seminar spaces. Anyone presents from any device without finding a cable. The licensing model varies between brands, we'll explain the trade-offs at survey.

WIFI

Campus-Wide WiFi.

Education WiFi is harder than office WiFi for three reasons: device density (one teacher and 30 students all on at once), BYOD load on top of managed devices, and the complexity of safeguarding-aware filtering at the network layer.

1

Predictive Survey

Before any campus WiFi quote we run a predictive survey. Model the floor plans, place virtual APs, predict signal and capacity per area. The survey output drives the quote and the install plan.WiFi survey methodology
2

High-Density APs

Classrooms with 30+ devices on a single AP need hardware rated for the concurrent count. Lecture theatres and assembly halls need denser arrays. We typically deploy Aruba CX, Cisco Meraki or Ubiquiti UniFi at scale, with the hardware choice reflecting the estate's existing tooling and IT team capability.
3

Eduroam Integration

For HE institutions, eduroam is a baseline expectation, students and staff visiting other eduroam-participating institutions get WiFi using their home credentials. We design new WiFi installs to integrate cleanly with the institution's existing eduroam configuration rather than create parallel SSIDs.
CCTV

Safeguarding-Ready CCTV.

School and university CCTV needs to balance safeguarding (entrance monitoring, corridor presence, anti-bullying) with privacy (no cameras inside classrooms, toilets, changing areas, prayer rooms). We design installs against the Department for Education's CCTV guidance, ICO codes of practice, and your safeguarding lead's policy.

Typical installs cover:

All external entrances and gates
Reception areas and visitor flow
Corridors and stairwells (covering pinch points and anti-social hotspots)
External boundary and car parks
Specialist areas where the safeguarding lead has a documented purpose

Recording retention aligned to your DPIA. Access logs on the recorder. SAR-handling procedure agreed with the data protection officer or DPO-as-a-service provider.
