Business Telephone
Systems.

A business phone system that does what staff actually need. Answer where they are, route to the right person, follow them between desk, mobile and Teams, and stay live when the office WiFi has a moment. CoreComms designs, installs and supports VoIP, cloud-hosted PBX and hybrid phone systems across the North West and West Yorkshire, for offices, healthcare practices, schools and multi-site operations.

MODERN PHONE SYSTEMS

Modern Business Phone Systems for the North West and West Yorkshire.

The traditional ISDN line is gone. The BT PSTN switch-off completed in early 2027 and the migration window is closing. If your business is still on a legacy phone system, you've already had the conversation about replacement. The question is which modern platform.

We don't have a tribal preference. We'll match the platform to your team size, call patterns, multi-site requirements and existing kit, and quote two options if there's a real choice.

VoIP

Voice over IP delivered through a cloud-hosted phone provider. Cheap to run, fast to deploy, suits 90% of small and mid-sized businesses.

Cloud-hosted PBX

Branded VoIP platforms (Gamma Horizon, 8x8, RingCentral, NFON, Wildix) with full receptionist features, call queues, IVR and CRM integration.

Microsoft Teams Voice

Teams as your phone system, with Direct Routing or Operator Connect to a UK carrier. Best fit for organisations already heavily on Microsoft 365.
VOIP PHONE SYSTEMS

VoIP Phone Systems.

VoIP is the entry point: cloud-hosted, per-user pricing, works with desk phones or softphone apps. Cheapest to deploy and easiest to support.

VoIP for Small Business

For 5 to 25 user offices, hosted VoIP is almost always the right answer. Fixed monthly cost per user (~£8 to £15/user typical depending on features), no on-site PBX, no maintenance contract. Mobile twinning so external calls can ring your mobile and your desk simultaneously. Voicemail-to-email so missed calls land as audio attachments in inbox. We typically deploy with Yealink, Poly or Snom desk handsets, plus the provider's softphone app for laptops and mobiles.

VoIP for Multi-Site

Multi-site businesses get the most out of VoIP. Extension dialling between sites, single auto-attendant, distributed reception, hot-desking. Calls between sites are free (they're just IP traffic), and a user moving between offices keeps the same number on whichever handset they pick up. Useful for healthcare estates with multiple practices, multi-branch retail, and professional services with city-pair offices (e.g. Manchester + Leeds).

VoIP Handsets

We supply business-grade SIP handsets, Yealink T-series and W-series, Poly VVX and Edge B-series, Snom. Across the price range from entry-level to executive Bluetooth-enabled models. Wireless DECT handsets for warehouses, healthcare floors and shop floors. Conference phones for meeting rooms.

Got a project in mind? Let's scope it together.

CLOUD-HOSTED PBX

Cloud-Hosted PBX.

Where you need more than a basic VoIP service, receptionist queues, complex IVR, integration with CRM, advanced reporting, contact-centre features. We work with the major UK platforms: Gamma Horizon, 8x8, RingCentral, NFON, Wildix.

1

Cloud Phone System

Hunt groups, call queues, IVR, voicemail-to-email, auto-attendant, presence, mobile twinning, integration with Microsoft 365 and most major CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics, Zoho).
2

Hosted PBX

Same hardware-free model with deeper features for businesses that take significant inbound call volume to receptionist console, call queueing with overflow rules, wallboards for live call statistics, ACD on agent skills, call recording with retention.
3

Microsoft Teams Voice

Direct Routing (your own SIP trunk) or Operator Connect (a partnered UK carrier) gives Teams native UK numbering. Calls land in Teams on desktop, mobile and dedicated handsets, and your meeting room kit (Yealink, Poly, Logitech) acts as the desk phone too.
Microsoft Teams Voice is increasingly the default for organisations standardised on Microsoft 365 with 50+ users. We'll spec it where it fits, recommend a separate platform where it doesn't.
HYBRID SETUPS

Hybrid Setups.

Some clients can't go fully cloud. Call centre operations with regulatory recording, compliance-driven retention, or specific telephony hardware that's already paid for. For these we deploy hybrid setups.

Hybrid is more involved than either pure model, so we'll only recommend it when it genuinely earns its place.

Typical hybrid build:

On-premise PBX for the call centre or compliance-bound function
Cloud VoIP or Teams Voice for the rest of the business
Single number plan and unified directory across both
Migration path to fully cloud once the constraint relaxes

Hosted PBX Phone Systems

Some clients arrive asking specifically for "a hosted PBX" because they're moving from an on-premise system and that's the language they've been told. Functionally a hosted PBX is what we mean by cloud-hosted PBX above. Same platform, same features, just the historical name. The legacy PBX in a cupboard with hardware maintenance contracts is gone. What replaced it is a cloud service paid per user, per month, with desk phones that are essentially network appliances.

NUMBER PORTING

Number Porting & SIP Trunking.

If you're moving to a new platform you almost certainly want to keep your existing numbers. Number porting is the regulated process for moving numbers between carriers, usually 5 to 15 working days for a clean port, longer if the donor carrier drags their feet.

We handle the porting administration, set the cutover date, run a temporary divert if needed during the porting window, and co-ordinate the cut so calls don't fail mid-migration.

Where you have on-premise PBX hardware that's still doing useful work, we can also supply SIP trunks (Gamma, BT, Spitfire, Voxbone) to replace the dying ISDN30 lines, then migrate the platform later when it makes sense.

INSTALLATION & SUPPORT

Installation & Support.

Phone systems usually go live in a single weekend cutover for offices up to 50 users. Larger sites and multi-site organisations are phased over several weekends.

Most clients move to a managed support contract after install. Single point of contact for adds/moves/changes, monthly invoice, no per-incident charging.

Standard install includes:

Network readiness check (QoS on the LAN, sufficient bandwidth, VLAN segregation if needed)
Number porting administration and cutover date setup
Handset deployment (configured in our office, delivered ready-to-plug-in)
User provisioning and training
Auto-attendant and call routing configured
30-day post-cutover support with active monitoring
Ongoing managed support afterwards if you want it
