Data Cabling in
Liverpool.

Core Comms installs structured data cabling across Liverpool and the Wirral.
Cat 5e through Cat 7 for offices, warehouses, schools and healthcare sites. Every port is Fluke tested and documented in a handover pack at the end of the job, and the site survey that starts it all is free. You get a fixed price, dates, and cabling that's as tidy behind the patch panel as it is at the wall plate.

STRUCTURED CABLING

Structured Data Cabling Across Liverpool.

Liverpool's commercial building stock keeps cabling engineers honest. Georgian terraces converted to offices around Rodney Street, thick-walled warehouses in the Baltic Triangle, glass towers on Old Hall Street, retail parks out at Speke. Each one routes, contains and terminates differently. Structured cabling is what makes them all behave the same at the desk: planned runs from every outlet back to a labelled patch panel, certified against the category standard, with documentation that lets a fault be traced in minutes.

We handle the whole job: survey, design, containment, pulls, terminations, patch panels, labelling, testing and the handover documentation. Live-office work is phased and patched so your team keeps working. School jobs go in during the holidays, and clinical sites get scheduled around sessions.

After one office fit-out, the client told us the thing she noticed most was how neat the finished cabling was. That's the part we're fussy about, because neat cabling is cabling your IT team can actually maintain. Our structured data cabling page covers the full service, and behind it is a team with more than 50 years of combined network infrastructure experience.

CABLE TYPES

Cable Types We Install.

We install Cat 5e up to Cat 7 in copper, plus fibre where copper runs out of reach. The right category depends on distance, bandwidth, interference and how long the install needs to last. The full comparison table is on our main structured data cabling page; the short Liverpool version is below.

Cat 5e

Cat 5e is cheap and still a current standard, with 1Gb to 100m and PoE for phones and access points. In Liverpool we fit it for small offices watching the budget and for top-ups to existing Cat 5e estates. It also suits short-lease units, like pop-up retail or temporary space around Bold Street, where the cable comes back out again in 18 months.

Cat 6

Cat 6 is what most Liverpool offices should buy. It carries 1Gb comfortably at every desk and 10Gb on shorter runs, with far better crosstalk behaviour than Cat 5e for a modest premium. It's the spec we quote first for refits across the Commercial District and for the digital and creative studios filling the Baltic Triangle.

Cat 6a

Cat 6a carries 10Gb to the full 100m and comes foiled as standard. It's the right call for new builds and full refits, and for anywhere dense WiFi is planned, because modern access points can swamp a Cat 6 uplink. We specify it routinely for GP surgeries, dental practices and care homes across Merseyside, where the cabling has to carry clinical systems for the next decade and a half.

Cat 7

Cat 7 is fully shielded S/FTP cable for electrically noisy environments: production floors, plant rooms, and the dockside and industrial sites out towards Speke and Halewood where heavy power and data share routes. If you don't have an EMI problem or a real 25/40Gb roadmap, Cat 6a is usually the better value answer, and we'll say so at survey.
NEW BUILD & REFIT

New Builds & Office Refits.

On new builds we join at drawing stage, alongside your contractor and M&E team, so containment, floor boxes and comms room space are right before the plasterboard goes on. Cable is pulled at second fix, terminated and certified before fit-out completes, and the as-built drawings go in the handover pack. We've worked on office fit-outs in the Liverpool Commercial District. The same first-fix discipline applies to industrial units and regeneration sites such as Wirral Waters, where getting containment in early saves serious money later.

Refits in live Liverpool offices run phased, floor by floor, with temporary patching during cutover and the loud work pushed to evenings and weekends. Undocumented legacy cabling gets audited first. Once everything is traced, labelled and certified, you only pay to replace what has actually failed.

Two jobs often share the visit. If the building needs better wireless, we'll spec a WiFi installation for the Liverpool site while the ceilings are open. If you're linking buildings or floors at distance, fibre optic cabling covers the runs copper can't reach. And where cameras are part of the same fit-out, the engineers who handle CCTV installation in Liverpool work off the same containment and the same comms room.

AREAS COVERED

Liverpool Areas We Cover.

Most of our Liverpool cabling work lands in these patches:

City centre and inner Liverpool

L1 to L8, taking in the Commercial District, the Baltic Triangle, the Knowledge Quarter, Edge Hill and Toxteth

South Liverpool

Aigburth, Mossley Hill, Wavertree, Allerton, Childwall, Garston, Woolton and Speke, in L15 to L19 and L24 to L25

North Liverpool and Sefton

Crosby, Bootle and the wider Sefton area, taking in Waterloo, Litherland and Maghull across L20 to L31, plus Aintree in L9 and L10

East Liverpool and Knowsley

West Derby, Croxteth, Huyton and Halewood

The Wirral

CH41 to CH49 and CH60 to CH63, covering Birkenhead, Wallasey, New Brighton, Hoylake, West Kirby and Heswall

Anywhere from L1 to L40 and across the water on the Wirral, you're in patch if you're searching for data cabling near you. Our engineers cover Liverpool from our North West base week in, week out. That includes the Knowledge Quarter's clinics and university buildings, Sefton's industrial estates, and the office conversions filling up around the docks. The rest of the North West and Yorkshire towns we work in are listed on our locations page.

The same crews run data cabling in Manchester and Leeds data cabling installs, so a multi-site business gets one supplier and one standard across the North.

TESTING & CERTIFICATION

Testing & Certification.

Every Liverpool port we terminate is tested with a Fluke certifier against its category standard. The test covers length, attenuation, return loss and near-end crosstalk, and the full results land in your handover pack as a PDF. That report is the document the 25-year manufacturer warranty depends on, the one your insurer or auditor will ask for, and the baseline that makes future faults quick to diagnose.

Moving into a building with no records? We'll certify what's in the walls before you commit to ripping it out. Older estates often pass at Cat 5e and only need partial replacement.

ACCREDITATIONS & SAFETY

Accreditations & Site Safety.

Most Liverpool facilities managers screen a cabling contractor on paperwork before anyone talks about ports. Ours is in order, so the pre-qualification stage is quick. We are Constructionline Gold and SafeContractor approved, and every engineer who sets foot on your site has been checked, trained and insured before the first cable is pulled.

Constructionline Gold registered and SafeContractor approved.
SMSTS-certified site supervisors running the work on site.
IPAF licensed engineers, qualified to operate MEWPs on site.
In-house training delivered through the HS Direct portal.
DBS-checked engineers, which matters on school and healthcare sites.
Full public liability cover, with certificates available on request.
More than 50 years' combined experience across cabling, telecoms, CCTV and AV.

If your procurement team needs the certificates, RAMS or insurance documents up front, ask when you request a quote and we'll send the pack across with the pricing.
